Scruchies!!
Did someone say scrunchies? I recently came across a youtube video on making scrunchies and boy are they super fun to make! I have hid some of them though because my teen keeps saying how cute they are and snatches them up, lol. I will be posting this in my fb group and on Etsy. Here are some examples of what I have made over the last week or so.

Sewing Room Favorites
For those who sew, I have a few tips for you to make sewing more fun and less stressful. First, pin cushions. At first I only had 1. I would pin my fabric at my cutting table, then proceed to the sewing machine and when I would take out the pins as I was sewing, I had no where to put them. I would have to get up and move my pin cushion to the sewing machine. Sometimes, I would be ironing seams and would need to pin and I'd have to look for my pin cushion. I now have five pin cushions. One is at my ironing board, 1 at my sewing machine and on my cutting tables. Now where ever I am at, I have a pin cushion. It saves a lot of time not having to get up from my machine and go looking for a pin cushion.
Next are my fabric baskets. They are so useful. I have 2 for my wonder clips. One at my cutting table and another at my sewing machine. I have one that holds pens, one for hot glue sticks and another for regular glue sticks. They are fun to make and so cute! There are so many uses for these around the home. You can even put them in your car to hold spare change, phone chargers or trash. I love making them out of old jeans. It gives the basket more structure than just using all cotton fabric.

Every year a local radio station has partnered with other local businesses to do "Conquer Cancer With a Quarter" campaign. During the week, they have a couple of dj's present ata the mall where people can drop off quarters to donate. I think this will be the 37th year. Businesses who donate a min of $150 will get their business name announced throughout the week. Cancer has taken many of my family members. The most recent was Easter 2018 where my aunt passed away from breast cancer. She was only 47. I always save my quarters throughout the year and donate them during this time. Conquer Cancer with a Quarter week is always the first full week of August. This year it will be Aug 5-9th. I want to do more. I will be donating 20% of my sales from Etsy from now till Aug 4th. Please help me to help find a cure for cancer. Thanks!!!

Fair Time!
The Lebanon Area Fair is fast approaching! Hannah and I will be turning in our entries on Friday. So exciting! She is turning in one pencil drawing and one pencil crayon drawing, a pillow, recycle item (accessory item) which she made a zipper pouch out of old jeans and a recycle item, she turned a kitchen item into an earring holder and she decorated a clay flower pot. I still have some baking to do. I will be submitting peanut brittle, 3 drop cookies banana bread and machine bread. I have all of my other items finished. Which I didn't think was going to be possible. I wanted to do a rippled afghan and I had one started a few months ago. I picked up where I had stopped but apparently I was using the wrong size crochet hook! So, on July 4th, I started a zippered afghan from scratch. I binged watched Beverly Hills 90210 while I stayed focused on the afghan. I have that finished and also completed a granny square afghan. I am also entering in one of my jean baskets, an apron and a jean picnic blanket. I can't wait for the fair. Saturday we will see what we won. It's fun to win, but I also like that 1000's of people see our work.
Hannah sold some of her hand sewn pillows and she was excited! As a typical 14 year old, she spent some of the money on make-up but she did buy more polyfill stuffing to make more pillows.
Check out my Etsy shop. You will find items that I have made and of course, Hannah's pillows.

2nd Etsy Sale
Hey everyone! How is your summer going? We are into our 2nd full week of summer vacation and it has been a long 2 weeks. It doesn't help that the weather hasn't been cooperating either. It's been rainy and chilly for the most part. But, on a positive note, I had my 2nd sale on Etsy. I had a customer ask if I could make her 7 zipper pouches in a Minnie Mouse print. I only had 2 for sale and I was also out of the fabric. So, what did I say? I said yes I could! I went to the fabric store, purchased more fabric and went to work. I whipped them up and shipped them 2 days later! I also get nervous when I make something for someone. I'm always afraid it won't be good enough for them. But today, I got my first review on Etsy. A 5 star rating. I am super excited!!!!!
I whipped up some aprons the last couple of days. One of them will be entered into the Lebanon Area Fair in July. My daughter was in the Garden Club at her school from 3-5th grade and they were allowed to enter flowers/plants/vegetables in the fair. That got us hooked. So while my daughter is going into 9th grade and no longer in the garden club, we still enter the fair. Anything from paintings, recycled/upcycled crafts, crochet, sewing projects, and yes, even plants and vegetables. We both have received ribbons though mine are mainly 2-4th place. Never a 1st place. But there is always this year, lol! Hannah has more ribbons than me and even a 1st place ribbon or two. It's nice to win ribbons but it's really cool that thousands of people see our work on display.
